Nursing Home Ministry of Compassion
This ministry was established in October of 2002 under
Solomon Jones Ministry, which has been embraced and become
a part of the outreach ministry of The House of Compassion.
The Nursing Home Ministry takes place at Wyant Wood Care
Facility located at 200 Wyant St. in Akron, Ohio. It is
held the first Saturday of every month from 10:30 am to
11:30 am. This is a time filled with fellowship, praise,
exhortation, and service of the Eucharist to the residents.
Our goal is to be a blessing to the residents and let
them know God has not forgotten or forsaken them.
Outreach Ministry of Compassion
Outreaches are an integral part of evangelizing and spreading
the “Good News.” This is done not only on an individual
basis, but on a community level. We as a church follow
the example of Jesus when he fed the multitude. Our goal
is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people
or community with whom we come into contact. It is our
desire to be a blessing and impact lives wherever our
footsteps are ordered to go.
Building a relationship is the key to having a lasting
influence upon the individuals/community as we reach out.
The House of Compassion has services “on location” at
the Springhill Apartments - Community Room. These services
take place on a quarterly basis delivering the Word of
God with compassion and faith. Our goal is to reach lost
souls and reconcile individuals back to Christ.
The House of Compassion has had
several outreaches this past year:
1. Back to School---100
book bags filled with school supplies were given to the
residents at Springhill Apartments.
2. Winter Give Away---In the month of October, over 75
men, women, and children in the Springhill community were
given winter hats, gloves, scarves, and socks in preparation
for the winter months.
3. A Day of Thanksgiving---85 residents were served Thanksgiving
lunch along with confessions of “Thanks Giving unto the
Lord”.
4. Christmas Celebration----over 80 children were blessed
with Christmas gifts ranging from bikes to dolls. The
true meaning of Christmas was brought forth by the demonstration
of love and fellowship.
